It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.
